Release Rundown: New Audiobooks Out Now

2016 has been a busy year for Audio Factory so far. New episodes of our second CBeebies Radio series Eddie Green and Friends were released in February and shortly after our latest series Musical Maddie launched, which we’re all really excited about. However, that was all recorded a lonnnnngggg time ago and in truth since January we’ve had our producer hats on with audiobook productions keeping us (and the voice artist Emma Newman) particularly busy. We’re currently in the post production phase of our fifth production of the year, Holly Martin’s festive romance ‘Christmas At Lilac Cottage’ for Bookouture, but the four previous books are out there right now on all good digital shelves. So we thought we’d tell you all about them…

Don’t Turn Around – Written by Caroline Mitchell (Bookouture)

Don’t you just love this cover? Emma Newman joined Audio Factory in the studio to narrate this paranormal crime thriller and gave a chilling performance as she brought Caroline Mitchell’s words and characters to life. Here’s the synopsis:

As D.C. Jennifer Knight investigates a routine stabbing in the quiet town of Haven, she is shocked at what seems like a personal message from beyond the grave.

When more bodies are found, Jennifer is convinced the killings are somehow linked. What she discovers is more chilling than she could possibly imagine. The murders mirror those of the notorious Grim Reaper – from over twenty years ago. A killer her mother helped convict.

Jennifer can no longer ignore the personal connection. Is there a copycat killer at work? Was the wrong man convicted? Or is there something more sinister at play …

With her mother’s terrifying legacy spiralling out of control, Jennifer must look into her own dark past in a fight not only to stop a killer – but to save herself and thoseshe loves.

If that has whetted your appetite (who knew there was a h in there? It’s like ‘damp squid’ all over again) then you can go across to Audible, listen to the sample and maybe even treat yourself to the book. Check all that out here.

The Silent Twin – Written by Caroline Mitchell (Bookouture)

So, we obviously did something right because shortly after the release of Don’t Turn Around we had to whisk Emma back to the studio to get into the mind of DC Jennifer Knight once more for The Silent Twin. We really enjoyed producing this and the story had us gripped. We also loved the Twitter banter with Caroline, who you can find @caroline_writes by the way. Here’s what it’s all about:

Nine-year-old twins Abigail and Olivia vow never to be parted. But when Abigail goes missing from Blackwater Farm, DC Jennifer Knight must find her before it’s too late.

Twin sister Olivia has been mute since Abigail’s disappearance. But when she whispers in Jennifer’s ear, Jennifer realises it is Abigail’s voice pleading to be found.

A damp and decaying house set in acres of desolate scrubland, the farm is a place of secrets, old and new – and Jennifer must unravel them all in order to find the lost girl. But could Olivia’s bond with her twin hold the key to finding Abigail? And can Jennifer break through her silence in time to save her sister’s life?

Summer At Rose Island - Written by Holly Martin (Bookouture)

Billed as a 'perfect feel good summer romance,' Summer At Rose Island is the much anticipated third book from author Holly Martin, whose devoted readers have fallen in love with her humorous romance novels all set in the lovely White Cliff Bay down in Devon. Audio Factory co-founder Arran Dutton is even thinking of moving there himself to find love after enduring a string of disastrous Tinder dates. Unfortunately, it is a fictional town... This book was narrated by Emma Newman (again) and here's what it's about:

Darcy Davenport is ready for a fresh start. Determined to leave a string of disastrous jobs and relationships behind her, she can’t wait to explore White Cliff Bay and meet the locals.

When Darcy swims in the crystal clear waters of the bay, she discovers the charming Rose Island Lighthouse. But it’s not just the beautiful building that she finds so intriguing…

Riley Eddison doesn’t want change. Desperate to escape the memories of his past, he lives a life of solitude in the lighthouse. Yet he can’t help but notice the gorgeous woman who swims out to his island one day.

Darcy is drawn to the mysterious and sexy Riley, but when it seems the town is trying to demolish his home, she soon finds herself having to pick sides.

She’s fallen in love with White Cliff Bay. But is that all Darcy’s fallen for?

I, Fembot – Written by Sam Faulkner

If you’re a fan of Austin Powers and James Bond then you have to read I, Fembot, not only because our very own Dave Perry will tell you how fun it is, but also because Alison Campbell performs it wonderfully with excellent comic timing complementing her smooth tone. Here’s the lowdown:

Stealing diamonds and seducing secret agents is all in a day's work for a robotic femme fatale.

Sally is a shop girl working behind the perfume counter at Burlington's, a top Knightsbridge department store. The shop is a front for a sinister international crime syndicate known only as the Organization. Sally is not a human being but an android replicant, designed to blend in with the ordinary workers at the store.

A diamond heist draws the attention of MI6 and, when secret agent Steve Blunt is dispatched to investigate, Fembot Sally must use all her robotic wiles to lure him into a deadly trap....

And if you enjoy that then it’s just the first in a long line of Fembot Sally novellas from the lovely Sam. More info on the series can be found at fembotsally.com and you can find details of the audiobook production right there too.
